VW have been building R line cars in recent years. We’ve tested the Golf R and Scirocco R both of which are the more aggressive version of their run of the mill cousins. Now VW seem set to continue this R line aggression by adding R line versions of the VW Tiguan and VW Touareg. Both of which are set to be on show at the Detroit Motor Show next week.
The Tiguan will get 19″ wheels while it’s big brother the Touareg gets 20″ wheels. Lots of new bits and pieces such as bi-xenon head lamps, body color side skirts, flat bottom sport steering wheel, and various metallic and gloss black accents in the two vehicles. The Tiguan will be available in front wheel drive or in VW 4 motion like the Golf R is.
The Touareg gets a little more special attention with dual oval-shaped exhausts and LED lights at the back. Both will come with a splatter of R badges, and so far the company is keeping quiet on the engines we can expect and the pricing we’ll likely pay for these cars.
